Our experiences today were in all honesty a positive relief. Suzy and I traveled to three schools, all of which were not very familiar with Matrix, and almost initially closed to the idea of us speaking with them. Knowing this, we prepared ourselves to work through the walls that some had built and stressed the idea that this program is not a program designed to get Matrix Professional Hair Care into the salons and schools we visit, but rather to talk about the amazing industry that we are all apart of. I am pleased to say that the feedback we received from all three of the schools was 100% positive, and we feel that we were able to reach most, if not all of the students we spoke to.
We’re really excited that we were able to speak with students training on different lines because we feel it’s important for them to take this opportunity as students to explore the many lines provided for them as stylist, while also looking past their preferences when meeting new stylist in this community. So many times we find when meeting veteran stylists that they create hard judgments based on the color we use, or by the lines our salons sell when in reality we should hold a common respect for all cosmetologist. In what I think is all of the Spread The Love Ambassador’s opinions, our number one focus as hairdressers should be on proving those who have doubt that what we do is valuable. When we create tension an enemies based on something silly like product we are loosing focus on something way more important, and almost feeding into the stereotype that we are all trying to get rid of.
We look forward to seeing more from the students of Cosmotech, Empire Beauty, and Spa Tech and we wish them luck in their initial adventures into the industry!
