“There is one thing one has to have: either a soul that is cheerful by nature, or a soul made cheerful by work, love, art, and knowledge.” That’s what this industry is all about; having a cheerful soul from the work, love, art, and knowledge that you use and obtain from making people feel and appear beautiful each and every day.
When I told my classmates in high school that my future plans were to graduate from beauty school, I received no support. No one else saw the potential I had to succeed in this career and the satisfaction I would receive from doing something I am passionate about. I remember before graduation, before we all went our separate ways, and before I ever applied to beauty school, I read a quote from one of my favorite designers.
“Think, Travel, Celebrate, Charm, Decorate, Dress, Live-colorfully”-Kate Spade. While this quote was so simple, it was so inspiring to me. That is how I want to live MY life and it didn’t matter what my peers or family suggested I do with my talents and interests. I knew that becoming a stylist meant I could live my life the way Kate Spade suggested.
I don’t only admire Kate for her unique and diverse talents in fashion but she was an unlikely success in a world often dominated by those born with a silver spoon. Her being a Missouri native could inspire any other all-american girl to take risks and make her passion for art a successful career.
Live colorfully, live magnificently, and inspire others to do the same.

spreading the love to me means making someone look and feel special. When someone sits down in your chair, you never know what kind of day they have had. Us as hairstylists can turn a bad day for someone into a great day, just by listening, and talking with them. Making them look great is just part of it, making them feel like family is the love we share with them. Everyone want to be thought of in a special way. A hug can go along way.

I spread the love, by always trying to make every single person feel special. Either through excellent customer service, a handshake, a friendly smile, a hug, or even just remembering their name.

A friend of mine was raising money for Diabetes. Her daughter was only 11 years old when she was diagnosed. Her goal was 1000 for this walk. I didn’t have much to give but I donated 25.00, and reposted on my facebook wall, before I knew it some of my friends had donated and she had raised over $1400.00. I can’t always give a lot, but I do what I can, but this friend was SO happy….she thanked me over and over. I didn’t realize how much a mere $25.00 could mean to someone. It just really made me feel good. That is the most recent thing I’ve done. But a few weeks ago, I was in line at subway getting food for my family, and this lady who appeared to be this small childs grandma came in and said that they had to only get one of the 5.00 sandwiches to share, and she was trying to explain to the little boy that that was all the money she had…I don’t know how true it was, or if they had food at home?! I have no clue, but I gave the cashier 15.00 and told her to let them get whatever they could for that! I left, so I hope she didn’t decline my offer.

When you are in my chair I am looking at your eyes, I listen to your voice and I read your body language. I am here for you, I want to know YOU. I am the transformer, I am the one that will make your day. I don’t scrub, I massage. I dont’t comb, I detangel. Idon’t color I don’t cut, I shape and I brighten. My work is my passion and you know. My touches tells you that I care. I am here for you and you will be back to me. I give you love and you give me your “I feel fantastic now”hug back to me.
